A week of nurturing yoga and ayurvedic treatments. Using the elements of yoga, ayurveda, nourishing organic food and sustainable living practices, this gorgeous holistic retreat facilitates profound and lasting healing.

What you can expect from your retreat...

Fabulous Ayurvedic treatments, lush and luxurious surroundings... On-site holistic clinic, one acre organic farm, teardrop swimming pool and beautifully spacious accommodation amidst abundant vegetation and paddy fields, just minutes from the fabulous beaches of North Goa. With vegetarian food to melt the heart of even the staunchest carnivore, this unique destination is designed to support a deeply restorative and healing retreat.

Mouth-watering organic food fresh from the farm...

Exquisite Ayurvedic culinary delights... Crafted by head chef Tess Rosenbush from top quality, locally sourced, ethically produced organic foods and fresh picked herbs, veggies, and fruits from the vast organic garden. Tess and her team keep ayurvedic guidelines and principles of food combining in the preparation of all meals for optimal health and digestion.

Organic lassis and spicy homemade chai... Made with love using Samata's own garden-grown ginger and raw organic milk from their own grass fed cow. This creamy milk is also used to make home-made organic butter, paneer, ghee, yogurt and sour cream. All Samata's eggs come from their own well-loved, scrap fed and organically raised hens.

Holistic and Ayurvedic treatments with world-class therapists...

Ayurvedic, Chinese and Tibetan medicines and therapies... as well as a full range of bodywork and massage and leading practitioners. Acupuncture, TCM, cupping, moxibustion, TTM, Shirodhara, Svedana and Karma Chikitsa are amongst the treatments available at the Alternative Medical Treatment And Rejuvenation Center as well as Vedic Astrology. International physicians offer a wide variety of therapies and expert guidance as well as an extensive herbal pharmacy for support regarding specific health issues or nourishing your life in general.

The ancient medicinal lineages represented at Samata are based on a deeply holistic view of life and health. This ideal, called ‘swastya’ in Ayurveda, is the discovery of the unique nature of a person’s body, mind, and spirit. In Sanskrit, ‘Samata’ means the state of equilibrium and balance. The core intention of the on-site healing center is to support you in realizing your innate samata.

Your yoga teachers - Tom Cowan and Andy Butterfield

Tom Cowan

Tom is a 500-hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher who qualified with the Vajrasati Yoga School in the UK.  He teaches in the UK and Internationally. His approach is gentle and meditative yet dynamic.

Tom has been exploring the relationship between yoga, bodywork, nature and mindfulness for many years. Before beginning yoga teacher training he was already enjoying a career in bodywork. A graduate from the internationally renowned North London School of Sports Massage, Tom’s experience and skills as a Sports Massage Therapist gave him good grounding in the understanding of anatomy, movement and health, and valuable insight into injury rehabilitation and recovery, as well as making him very popular with his fellow teacher trainees.

As well as teaching yoga and offering bodywork Tom also co-facilitates small and large groups for self-development, growth and well-being.

When not doing any of these things Tom splits his time between quiet times outdoors, precious moments with friends and family and playing guitar and piano with several bands.

Andy Butterfield

An experienced shiatsu therapist and mindfulness teacher, Andy integrates his knowledge of anatomy, meridian energetics and meditation with flowing hatha vinyasa yoga. His aim is to help you inhabit your body and indeed your life, more fully, relaxing into it with deeper compassion, appreciation and contentment.

He encourages his students to turn more lovingly towards their physical bodies, to give thanks for all that the body is able to do. He cultivates an attitude of loving kindness, gratitude and wonder with his students as they are led through a soulful and meaningful practice.

Breath is also central in Andy's teaching. He understands that it is the most powerful tool to nourish, enliven and restore. In class, he repeatedly invites students back to the flow and fullness of the bresth. This way we come to dwell in the present moment and begin to understand that in this space, we receive everything we need, effortlessly. As we move and open and stretch our bodies, breath and energy (prana) expand to fill the new spaces opening up.

Sometimes his classes focus on the creation of space, softening what is stuck and restoring and resourcing us from the inside. Other times, he works with strengthening and empowering practices to burn off what isn't serving us and feel the joy in offering more than we thought we could.

There will be two yoga classes each day except arrival and departures days. Price includes: 7 nights accommodation; 3 delicious meals each day, teas, coffee, water, fruit, nuts and snacks during the day and all yoga tuition, as well as a 60 minute personal ayurvedic consulation and treatment.
