Responsible travel

At Yoga Explorers our heart has to be in it. This means that we have to believe in the centres we take guests to in the same way that we have to believe in the yoga that we teach.

Each hotel or retreat centre that we visit has a certain something that reveals their kinship with yoga, nature, and a responsibility towards shaping the world we live in.

Everyone has their own angle on this. Some centres offer mostly or entirely organic or locally produced food. Some focus on energy saving and eco issues with solar power, eco toilets and buildings made from natural, bio-degradable and sustainable materials. Many work with their local, indigenous community and ensure their local environment is sustained with love and respect. And some centres do it in the atmosphere that they create; with happy well cared-for staff; attention to beauty and detail, and a general ethos of care and sensitivity.

However they do it, all our centres contribute something really positive to their local environment and the wider community of which we are all part.

You can find out more about individual centres in the destination pages.

Carbon Offsetting

We carbon offset on all our flights and respectfully encourage all our customers to do so too.

Giving Back

Yoga Explorers supports SOS Children, a charity that helps orphaned and abandoned children.

SOS Children's sponsors and donors help children who's parents are not their for them. They may be AIDS orphans, street children, child soldiers or children orphaned by war, poverty or natural disasters. They give these children a mother and a family in a home within an SOS Children's Village. SOS Children believe it is best to co-operate, not condemn, their philosophy being ‘there is no point being outspoken and thrown out when children depend on you being there'. This method has allowed them to continue to do critical work in places like Zimbabwe where others have had to leave.
