Your teacher - Laura Grace

Laura Grace

Laura Grace started her Ashtanga vinyasa journey in 2008, but she's practised Yoga on and off since the age of 14.

In 2010 Laura travelled to India and spent four months of intensive training at Ashtanga Auroville with Monica Marinoni before heading to Sri Lanka to practice with Kathy Cooper.  Laura then returned to Europe to complete her Teacher Training at Ashtanga Yoga Paris with the inspiring Gerald Disse and Linda Munro and then further her studies in the UK with the knowledgeable and wise John Evans.

Continuing her pursuit of a real depth of knowledge and understanding, Laura travelled to Maui to train with Nancy Gilgoff, the first western woman to travel to India and study with Pattabhi Jois. Nancy was responsible for bringing Ashtanga Yoga to the west and Laura has studied in depth with Nancy who she still considers a mentor. It was Nancy whose advise Laura sought following a neck injury and whose wisdom led Laura to the really harness the healing power of the Ashtanga system.

For Laura the practice must serve the body, having met David Keil at a time when she was interested and inquiring into pain and injury reduction and minimisation, she understands the anatomy of yoga and how a safe approach to practice is crucial to long-term health. She strongly believes that a personal practice must be tailored to fit each person and uses modifications and alterations to adapt the practice to suit the body, mind and spirit of each individual.

Since 2014 Laura has based at EcoYoga Scotland, a wonderful retreat center in the Highlands where she manages to run the retreat centre (brilliantly, we have to say!), manage the staff, teach fabulous retreats, and still find time for a regular creek-side bath. We all need some of what Laura's got!
